A few have asked so I will tell you that we plan to take on ten interns. We put more emphasis on finding the right bloggers than on finding a certain number so if we end up with less, that will be just fine. At this moment, the task of finding those perfect candidates for whom the internship would be totally ‘win-win’ looms large.
Over 100 applications have come in at this time. I’ve read 50+ blogger stories so far and have interviewed a handful. It is a pleasure getting to know bloggers from different backgrounds with unique interests.
What Makes Someone a Good Fit?
Most obviously, a blogger with a strong interest in writing about internet marketing, home businesses and related web topics stands the best chance of being a great intern on the Sparkplugging network. After that, I’m looking for personality and business goals that be well served by the information and experience they’ll gain in our internship.
A lot of our applicants are hungry for blogging knowledge, but have very different topical interests. In those situations, I feel it would be unfair to accept 100 hours of activity from them when it won’t help them gain any particular momentum in their own projects.
All these applications make me wonder if we should offer a ten week course with coaching through SparkplugU that would mirror the training and projects of the internship only the students would apply it to their own interests and blogging projects. What do you think about that?
I want to thank everyone who has applied for their time and interest. Wendy and I are thrilled with the response. I promise that I will respond to every applicant personally – even if I have stay up til the wee hours to make it happen.
Applications are still being accepted – so if you have a real interest in blogging about internet marketing, working at home and all of the related internet topics, please do consider submitting yours.
